10 Classes Project Files Included MP4
In this project-based course, Abhimanyu Tanwar works through the compositing aspects of several shots he completed for the short film RISE.
The course starts with ingesting media inside Nuke Studio and building a compositing workflow. He then dives into creating clean plates and CGI integration into those scenes. Some of the prep work for compositing comes with tricky issues such tracking and color mismatch, so Tanwar shows tips one how to make it easier. The scenes also provide an opportunity to demonstrate how to set up matte painting and clean plate projection techniques utilizing Nukes 3D system.
For premium members, this course contains over 20GB of high resolution source files from the scenes demonstrated in the course.
Abhimanyu Tanwar is a digital compositor and has worked on films such as Edge of Tomorrow, World War Z and other short films.
The course begins by ingesting the plate footage inside Nuke Studio and setting up the compositing pipeline, including shot/folder management and establishing naming conventions. Compositing begins with the first shot (Shot0230), which comes with clean up and compositing challenges.
Work on Shot0230 continues with replacing plate assets, integrating a muzzle flash, assembling CG passes and compositing them in the live action shot.
The next shot (Shot0190) is started with an overview of the tasks. The shot uses Nukes 3D system to extend the skyline as well as integrating CG robots and shadows on the plate.
Shot0180 shows techniques to blend the matte painting with the background and foreground live action as well as CG element compositing.
The tasks for Shot0130 include compositing muzzle flashes, smoke, dust, and bullet hits. Also includes a look at CG interaction with live action.
Continuation of Shot0130, including beginning to blend everything together by using filters and color.
We dive into Shot0110, which has its own sets of challenges. Well look at painting out talent from the light shimmer plate as well as creating clean plate by using projection.
Shot0110 continues with the removal of talent by using rotopaint.
Shot0110 is finalized with the blending of CG elements with the live action plate by using filters and effects.
Coverage of additional interesting shots from the film and the challenges the composites provided.
